Antigonish Engagement Session | Chelsea & Josh

I had the pleasure of shooting Chelsea & Josh the other evening in Antigonish. These photos may looks delicate and adorable but don’t let that fool you. They had to trudge through tangles of thorns, jump a few swampy ditches, endure countless hungry black flies and follow me around to three different locations. I think in the end, it was worth it! Chelsea wasn’t fussy as far as ideas for location so I had free reign on where to do photos. It took me 30 minutes before the session to pick a few spots out. It’s taken me a long time to realize that photography isn’t always about the location you use as much as it is how you utilize your surroundings and the lighting at the time. Many of these photos were just taken at random roadside stops that had caught my eye before the session. They were nothing special. As far as using the local University campus, there’s always a challenge of making your photos stand out somewhere that is well photographed. It’s a great location but I’m always trying to find ways to make my photos look set apart from the rest that are taken in the same spot.

I’m happy to say that I’m not only totally pleased with how easy Chelsea and Josh made shooting this session, but also with how I challenged myself by using mostly one lens and using all new locations! It keeps my job fresh and interesting!

  1. Love your photography Hil. Thanks for sharing. Sounds like you are keeping yourself busy. with one of your passions.

It was great sharing the evening with some of your family last night @ Sole Sisters. I had hoped to see you there too, but we never know where Hil. will be—–Anywhere between Australia and Donahue Lake!

Good luck with your bookings. If I hear of anyone in pursuit of a photographer, you will certainly be recommended.

    Take care-Roma
